(Almost) All About Doug

Here you will find some biographical and introductory material

Doug Lothes is a native of West Virginia and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (cum laude) in theatre from West Virginia University. After college, he moved to New York City where he created and began performing his signature one-man parody, Gone With The Wind in 20 Minutes. In 1987, Doug wrote an introductory letter to Woody Allen's famous producer and agent Jack Rollins, who actually called Doug into his Manhattan office based upon that letter. After confessing he had never seen the film, Mr. Rollins suggested to Doug that he "not give up your day job." So, Doug gave up his day job and moved to Atlanta, Georgia later that year.

In Atlanta, Doug has acted with the Alliance Theatre and appeared in productions of Peter Pan, Amadeus, Annie Get Your Gun (with Pamela Myers), and A Christmas Carol. He shared the stage with musical film star Howard Keel in South Pacific at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Since 1989, he has been a proud member of Actors' Equity Association, the labor union of actors and stage managers.

Through the years, Doug has written and stage directed four shows for the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus, including Are We In Kansas Yet?, a one-act parody of The Wizard of Oz, that was presented at the Fabulous Fox Theatre on Peachtree Street and a 20 Minute Sound of Music at the Rialto Theatre.

With Ray & Beth Chenault (music directors and organists at All Saints' Episcopal Church, Atlanta), Doug wrote, directed, and emceed (or "hosted") four musical revues for the church community each September from 2007 to 2010. Doug was a parishioner at All Saints' Episcopal Church beginning in 1987 and during the subsequent twenty-three years served as a lector, docent, choir member, staff member, and on several parish committees.

Doug currently resides in Palm Springs, California.
